MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6 - BISHOP GAVE DAY OFF

On Monday, we will not be having school.  The day we had our Blue Ribbon Celebration with Bishop Foys, he granted us a day off.  The students elected to take this the day after the Super Bowl.  Therefore we will not be having classes on Monday, February 6th.   


IT'S SKYLINE TIME! 

February 14th is CovCath night at Skyline Chili in Fort Wright.  Treat your valentine to dinner at Skyline!  Don't forget to download and print the attached coupons to take with you.

CCH OFFERING TWO MULTI-WEEK AFTER-SCHOOL STEM  CAMPS

Covington Catholic High School is offering two multi-week after-school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) camps for 6th-8th grade boys and girls during January – March, 2017:

1. STEM ROBOTICS: Jan. 23-24, Jan. 30-31, Feb. 6-7.
2. STEM 3-D MODELING & DESIGN: Feb. 13-14, Feb. 27-28, March 6-7.

The camps are based on Project Lead the Way’s Gateway curriculum, designed to expose middle school students to STEM-related fields with a primary focus on engineering.

CAREER EXPLORATION CLASS LOOKING FOR SPEAKERS

Mr. Schneeman in the process of scheduling in class speakers for the Career Explorations class here at Cov-Cath. This semester speaking dates will run from February 1-May 3 . He will have one class this semester, which meets during our 4th bell (M, T, Th, Fr 10:37-11:25) (W 10:55-11:38.)

The class this semester will have mostly sophomore aged kids, and Mr. Schneeman is looking to get in a variety of career fields to open their eyes to the many career possibilities.

If you are interested in speaking to the Career Exploration class this semester, please email Rschneeman@covcath.org and let him know which dates you would prefer to speak from the list of dates below.

World War II European Tour 2017 – 3 Spots still available – Enrollment closes Feb 15!!

This 11 day tour through London, Paris and along the Western Front to Berlin, is a great opportunity for any student (parents welcome, too) with a love of history.  Our departure is tentatively June 5, with a return June 16.  We will spend a day at the beaches of Normandy, after crossing the English Channel on a ferry.  Our itinerary leaves plenty of time for individual exploration (but always supervised!!)  We have a two spots left to fill on this tour.  We want to insure that everyone who is interested has a chance to get all the facts and to make a decision before our enrollment window closes.

EVENTS IN THE COMMUNITY

DISCERNMENT DINNER @ CATHEDRAL RECTORY

Bishop Foys and Fr. Andrew Young, the Vocations Promoter for the Diocese, invite any men who are considering a vocation to the priesthood to join them for dinner on the 1st Sunday of every month at 6:30 PM in the Cathedral Rectory.  This is a great chance to have any questions answered that you may have about the priesthood, seminary, or how to discern God’s Will for your life.  Contact Fr. The Sisters of St. Joseph the Worker will be hosting a discernment retreat

The Sisters of St. Joseph the Worker will be hosting a discernment retreat for young women 6th grade and up on Saturday, February 18, 2017.  The retreat will be held at All Saints Church, exit 171 on I-75 from 9:00am - 6:00 pm.  Please RSVP to Sr. Patricia Jean by February 1, 2017.   • 7:30-9:00 P.M. Joshua Charles; Keynote Address; followed by a panel discussion focusing on the book Liberty's Secrets: The Lost Wisdom of America's Founders and the historical perspective it provides to the concept of religious liberty as an inalienable right.
  • Thomas More College's own J.T. Spence, Ph.D. and Hunter Baker, J.D., Ph.D. of Union University in Jackson, Tennessee will offer commentary on Mr. Charles's work after the keynote address.
