SOLAR ECLIPSE

Dear Parents:

As you may know, this Monday, August 21st, we will be experiencing a partial solar eclipse.  At Covington Catholic, the eclipse will start at 1:01 PM and come to completion at 3:53 PM.  The midpoint and the maximum eclipse will take place at 2:29 PM.  We are fortunate to be able to witness the eclipse at 91% coverage.  The school has purchased enough ISO (12312-2) certified solar viewer cards for the whole staff and student body.

This Monday we will have a modified schedule to allow for viewing of the eclipse by the staff and student body.  Instructions will be provided to the students on how to properly and safely view the eclipse.  Afterwards they will be taken to the field, under close supervision, to witness the maximum point of eclipse.

If you wish to opt your child out of this event, please call the main office at 859-491-2247 before noon on Monday.

Sincerely,

Bob Rowe
Principal

FATHER/SON EVENT

This year's Father/Son Event will be Sunday October 1. There will be a full day of activities on the football field along with a chili cook-off in the cafeteria and a cornhole tournament just to name a few. It is a great way to spend some quality time with your son. A link to the sign up page and additional information about the event is being finalized and should be available in coming editions of Blue Notes. Volunteers, including a photographer, are needed for this year's event. Please contact Brad Hanna at FatherSonEvent@covcath.org if you would like to join this year's planning committee.

ROSARY SERVICES ARE NOW HELD FOUR DAYS EACH WEEK

Beginning this school year, the COLONELS FOR LIFE will be praying the Rosary in the Chapel on Monday mornings at 7:30 am as part of LIFE'S 5TH QUARTER'S DOOR PROGRAM (DAY OF ONE ROSARY) for a return to a Culture of Life.  On Friday mornings at 7:00 am (15 minutes before Mass) we will pray a Rosary for vocations coming from our CovCath community, for Bishop Foys, and the priests in our Diocese.

By adding these two additional Rosary Services, it will provide more opportunity for students and adults to attend a Rosary Service at CovCath since we have had in place for many years a Rosary Service on both Tuesday and Thursdays at 7:30 am which is sponsored by our Campus Ministry.

Please come and join us if your schedule permits. It only takes JUST 15 MINUTES and what a great way to begin your day!

PRO-LIFE MOVIE NIGHT - "Eddie the Eagle"

We presented this movie in September of 2016 and it was a huge hit. So, we are bringing it back for a second showing. A great movie for all to watch because it demonstrates that if we are willing to work hard enough for something, there is an excellent possibility we can reach it.
