September 21, 2017 blue notes

Three golf clubs were left behind ;at the ladies golf outing last Friday.  Two pitching wedges and a seven iron.  You may claim them in the front office of the school.

Don't miss out on the fun! CCH has been running an intramural bowling league for years. It's a great way to meet new friends, be as social or as serious as you want (because we do keep stats), but all in all it's just about spending time with fellow CCH classmates outside of class once a week until Christmas break.

There will be representatives’ setup each morning starting the week of September 11th in the school entrance for signups. They will also have all the details (dates, times, fees, etc). The signup deadline will be Sept 22nd. The first week of bowling will be Wednesday, Sep 27th.

Hint: CCH has a competitive Varsity bowling team – this is a great way for starters to learn the game, work on skills and get some lane time!

Colorado Ski Trip SOLD OUT

Thanks again for the tremendous support of this annual trip to Winter Park.  We could not do it without our parent chaperones.  If your son is going on the trip, you should have received an email by now.  Please contact if you haven’t received a confirmation email.

Attention ALL Spanish speakers (or wannabes)

Senora and Mrs. Stengle are planning a one week tour to Spain next summer.

We’ll depart June 5, 2018, for 8 days in Madrid and Barcelona.  What a great opportunity to enjoy Spanish culture and food, while speaking the language!!

This will be our fourth year of European tours with EF.  Everything is included in the tour price, (except lunch every day), especially our very own 24/7 EF tour guide.  This professional guide meets us at the airport and travels with us the whole time.  This is a great opportunity for your son to become a global citizen – learning about different cultures, making new friends and seeing the world in a safe environment.  Please check out our tour online

Enrollments for this 8 day tour to Madrid and Barcelona close on September 29.  If you and your son would like to join us, please send your $95 enrollment fee (check made payable to EF Tours) to the office by September 29.  Do not enroll online.  If we have the required five travelers, the checks will be forwarded to EF Tours (and eligible for five $100 scholarships.)  If we don’t have the minimum number of travelers, your checks will be returned.

Enroll by our cut-off date of September 29, 2017, and you’ll be entered into a raffle to win one of five $100 scholarships for this tour!!

Please contact Mrs. Stengle at for more information.

All students invited to join CCH Ski and Board Club

We welcome all levels of skiers and boarders.  You join the club by buying your pass through our club login at the PNS site.  Instructions will be distributed at our meeting next week.  Our first meeting will be next Tuesday, September 26 at 7:15 am in the MultiPurpose Room.  We will elect officers at this meeting.  Candidates for office are seniors who have purchased their passes through our club login in the past, especially those with a keen desire to make this the best school club at CCH!

We will also announce our Fourth Annual Sweatshirt design contest.  Winner receives a free sweatshirt with his design AND a PNS $25 gift card.  This contest is open to all students.

Our club has four organized outings on Thursdays, beginning January 11, to Perfect North Slopes.  We leave after school (one way bus transport available for $5), meet up in the lodge for “Food at Five-thirty” for some social time, then back to the slopes until you catch a ride home (the chaperones leave at 9:00pm).  We have a blast and everyone makes new friends.

Please attend this informational meeting for important details about our club.

AMAZON REWARDS - Don't forget to use the Amazon link on the CCH website and on the bottom of this email when ordering from Amazon.  It costs nothing extra to you and CCH gets credit for the sale.  So far this year we  have been able to get an industrial size shredder and have replaced the refrigerator in the faculty dining room.    YouTube

If you prefer to send your son's lunch money to school instead of using the online payment method, please have him drop his money in the box on the counter of the main office first thing in the morning.  This helps to speed up the lunch line.

This year's Father Son Event will be starting earlier than initially scheduled.  Registration will begin Sunday October 1 at 12:00 and kick-off ceremonies will start at 12:30 in the gym.  This year we are adding new events that include a speed pitch machine and soccer dart board as well as a wiffle ball event.  Don't miss the chance to spend a great afternoon with your son.  The cornhole event is also being modified so more teams can participate beyond the throw-in stage.  Finally, there is a chili cook off at the beginning of the day and we need as many volunteers as possible to bring in a pot of their favorite chili recipe.  If you have any questions, please email Brad Hanna at

Youth 2000

The Office of Catechesis and Formation has given us brochures and pertinent information regarding this year’s  Youth 2000 Program. These handouts will be distributed in all Religion classes and announcements will be made pertaining to this activity. It will take place at St. Henry District High School the weekend of Oct 13-15. An outline of the program is contained on the back of the brochure your son will be given. More information can be received from any Religion teacher via e mail. Thanks.

Dear Parent:

This year’s National Catholic Youth Conference will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana November 16-19, 2017. Students are encouraged to attend. This is annually the largest national  event sponsored by the Catholic Church in the United States and Bishop Foys is encouraging all high school age students of our diocese to attend. Over 20,000 youth are expected. Attendees who elect to go  will be absent from school on Thursday November 16 and Friday November 17th returning to the Diocese on the 19th. The diocese has given permission for their absence.  Our youth participants will experience conversation lectures on the sacraments, adoration, round table discussions with bishops, discussions on bullying, alcohol and drug abuse, and much more.

Please consider encouraging your son to participate. We have never had this kind of proximity to this life changing event.

Please see the attached flyer regarding cost.
