STEM High School Summer Course

For the 2019-2020 school year, Covington Catholic High School will conduct a summer session of the Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) course, the first STEM class in the Project Lead the Way engineering sequence offered at CCH.

This course will follow the same structure and requirements as the year-long course offered during the school year, replicating the coursework, homework, assessments and end of course examination. As such, it will be a rigorous and fast-paced class, crystallizing what has been to date a nine-month curriculum into an abbreviated course of study. Students that successfully complete the summer session will earn one full high school credit, eligibility for the next course in the STEM sequence, and potential college credit. It will also provide students added flexibility with their high school course schedules, opening up elective options in other disciplines while also pursuing a STEM curriculum pathway.

Course Dates: Classes will begin on June 5 and conclude on June 28.

Course times: Monday through Friday 8:00am-3:00pm (lunch break for 30 minutes).

Location: Newly constructed STEM Lab

Cost: $350 per student (non-refundable)

Registration Deadline: May 15, 2019. Late fee of $50 (non-refundable) if registered after May 15.

Attendance Policy: Students will not be permitted to miss more than 3 days of the summer session and still receive credit due to the condensed nature of the course.

Eligibility: An eligible rising freshman or sophomore student must be enrolled in or recommended for a CP1 or higher math class for their specific grade level.

Enrollment: The course will be limited to sixteen students. Priority will be given to those registering first and satisfying the eligibility requirement.
