Scholarship Opportunities

Please note that the KHSAA enforces a 25% limit of tuition for any scholarship for athletes. This does not include need based awards.

Scholarship Types

Incoming Freshman Scholarships

DIOCESAN HSPT SCHOLARSHIP

These scholarships are awarded to any 8th grader that takes the HSPT at Covington Catholic High School and earns a score that places him among the top 10% of all test takers at CCH. To be eligible for this scholarship, an eighth grader must be a registered member of a parish in the Diocese of Covington and he must take the HSPT on the designated Saturday in December as determined by the Diocese of Covington. Students enrolled in CCH’s feeder schools-St. Pius, St. Joseph (Crescent Springs), St. Agnes, Blessed Sacrament and Prince of Peace School- will automatically be mailed HSPT information in November. Any student attending another grade school may also take the HSPT at CCH but they should contact Mr. Barczak in the Guidance Department to receive HSPT registration information.

MONSIGNOR MURPHY SCHOLARSHIP (St. Agnes )

This scholarship is a one-time $1500 award for a St. Agnes student that is provided by St. Agnes. Please contact St. Agnes School for further information.

DAVID MOORHEAD SCHOLARSHIP (St. Pius X)

This scholarship is a one-time $1000 award for a St. Pius X student that is provided by the Moorhead family. Please contact St. Pius X School for further information.

WARD/WORMALD SCHOLARSHIP (St. Pius X)

This scholarship is based on financial need and the recipient must be a member of the St. Pius X parish. Applications are available at the SPX School Office and are due by March 30th.

KENNY & BRIAN WILLIAMS SCHOLARSHIP

This is a four-year scholarship for a district student with financial need that is awarded by the Williams Foundation. Please visit www.kbwilliamsfund.org for more information.

JEFF STRUNK SCHOLARSHIP (St. Joseph's Crescent Springs)

This scholarship is a one-time $2,400 award for a St Joseph, Crescent Springs, student that is provided by St. Joseph, Crescent Springs. Any grade level may apply as long as the student's family is a registered member of St. Joseph's parish. Please contact St. Joseph School for more information.

Financial Aid Scholarships

Applications for Financial Aid Scholarships are due no later than April 17th.

There are two different scholarship applications, the Nancy Holbrook Scholarship and Work Study Scholarships (which includes many individual specific scholarships) - see more below:

Senior Year Scholarships

SCOTT KNOCHELMAN AWARD

This award is a one year scholarship equal to a year's in-Diocese tuition for a senior that has worked in the work study program the previous three years and has qualified for financial assistance for his senior year. Student must have completed some community service, be active in school through sports, intramurals or club activities, and maintain a C average or above GPA. This award shall go to one student and if any monies are left over, the difference will go to another deserving senior. No more than two seniors will receive this award in one year. The award will be selected by committee and no application is required.

JOHN GALLENSTEIN ART AWARD

Three one-time scholarships of $500 each are awarded to senior students in the art program. The recipients are selected by the Art Department Committee.

Graduating Senior Scholarships

KENNY & BRIAN WILLIAMS SCHOLARSHIP

This award is a one-year $5000 scholarship for a graduating senior with financial need awarded by the Williams Foundation. Please visit www.kbwilliamsfund.org for more information.

KELSEY SORRELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This award is a one-time $1500 scholarship for two graduating seniors that participated in the work study program. The recipients of this scholarship is selected by committee.

JEFF PFETZER SCHOLARSHIP

This award is a one-year $2400 scholarship for a graduating senior who has demonstrated a commitment to academics (minimum 3.0 GPA), continuous involvement in extra-curricular activities, and employment experience. In addition, the recipient must exemplify strong moral character and high ambition for personal and professional growth. An application is required and forms are available upon request.

SOCCER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This award is a one-year $500 scholarship for a graduating senior who during his senior year was a member of the varsity soccer team. This scholarship shall be based on the recipient’s contributions to the varsity soccer team, team leadership, financial need, scholastic achievement and other relevant factors that the awarding committee shall deem appropriate. The recipient is selected by committee.

JOSEPH T. HACKETT SOCIAL STUDIES AWARDS

Two awards:

The first award is a one-year $500 scholarship for a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of U.S. History. This award goes to the student with the highest GPA in social studies courses.

The second award is a one year $250 scholarship for a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of U.S. History. This award goes to the student with the second highest GPA in social studies courses.

ARTIE STEINMETZ SCHOLARSHIP

This award is a one-year $350 scholarship for a graduating senior who is a football player and has financial need and/or scholastic achievement. The recipient is selected by committee.

JON BIEDENHARN SCIENCE AWARD

This award is a one-time $500 scholarship awarded to the top science student his senior year.

DAVID STOPPELWORTH ENGLISH AWARD

This award is a one-time $350 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior for creative writing. The recipient is selected by the English Department Committee.

JON BIEDENHARN DETERMINATION AWARD

This award is a one-time $200 scholarship awarded to a golf player. The scholarship shall be based on the recipient’s leadership, determination, golf skills, courage, commitment and attitude. The recipient is selected by committee.
