COVCATH NEWS

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year!  The first day of school is Monday, August 20, 2018.  Students are to report to their homerooms by 7:45 a.m.  Parents, please send in the Parent/Student Agreement form with all area signed by a parent and studfent and the Parent Volunteer sheet for the Parents Club.

Drop Off & Parking Lot Procedure:

Due to construction, assigned Student Parking Permits will not be available at the start of the school year. Faculty and Staff will be issued assigned parking spaces in the lot immediately in front of the Academic Building in spaces #1 - #104. With the exception of those numbered spaces that are reserved for Faculty/Staff/Visitors, students who drive to school will be permitted to park in any other space in any of our lots, as well as the 62 numbered spaces in the Gardens of Park Hills.  As soon as possible, as the new lots are completed and numbered, we will allow students (seniors first) to select their spaces for the remainder of the school year.

Since the parking lot is not finished, the following drop off pattern and afternoon pick-up procedures will remain the same as late year:

Parents are to enter at the south entrance  (Covington Catholic Sign Entrance) and follow the main drive where they will be directed to the drop off area. For the afternoon pick-up, parents/guardians will park in any of open parking spaces and students will be directed to walk to their cars.

When the remaining drive areas and lots are completed, new information will be provided.

Calendar - date change

Picture day for upperclassmen will be August 30th (this is a change from the original calendar).  If any freshman or faculty or staff member missed the picture day last week, they should get their photo taken on August 30th.

Bible Study Announcement

Faith Formation Catholic Bible Study classes for adults and young adults – All sessions are scheduled on Tuesday evenings, 7 to 9 p.m., beginning September 4, 2018. Each workshop will take three evenings and will cover one book of the Bible. The study will begin with the Book of Judges and, with enough interest, continue through the Book of Revelation. Our guest presenter is the Reverend Timothy P. Schehr, Ph.D., from the Athenaeum of Ohio, Mt. St. Mary Seminary of the West.

The Bible is a great and wonderful book which we should all read and study. We should make an effort to understand the true meaning of the Scriptures, and not simply give passages our own interpretation.

To avoid this, I personally invite you to come on Tuesday, September 4 to immerse yourselves into Father Schehr's teaching. During these workshops Father will guide us through the meaning of the Bible. Through his teaching the Bible will be a source of unity in the Church, rather than the division that follows when we interpret Scripture contrary to the Church's teaching.

The cost to participate in each book of the Bible is $35. All sessions will be held in the Bishop Howard Memorial Auditorium, located in the Diocese of Covington Curia, 1125 Madison Ave., Covington. To register online, or for more information, please visit the diocesan website at

https://www.covdio.org/scripture-study-for-young-adults-and-adult-faith-formation/, or email registration to catechesis@covdio.org, or call 859-392-1500 ext. 1526. A brochure listing the first ten courses is available on the above website.
