High School Placement Test
Saturday December 14th, 9AM 

Registration is now open for the High School Placement Test. All 8th graders interested in attending a diocesan school must take the HSPT.  Taking the test at CCH gives you an opportunity to earn a scholarship towards CCH tuition.  

Students should arrive by 8:45.  Bring pencils, a water bottle, and may wear comfortable clothing.  No calculators or food are permitted. The test will end at noon and students will be dismissed through the main entrance. 

Registration fee is $20.

During the test, parents are invited to join the administration in the cafeteria for coffee and a light breakfast.  There will be a brief information session and a chance to ask questions. The Spirit Shop will be open from 9AM - noon and free gift wrapping will be available for any in-store purchases.

The Admissions Process

Registration for the 2025-2026 school year will begin in January, 2025.

Incoming freshmen interested in attending Covington Catholic High School must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Online registration (including a $20.00 test fee plus $.50 online registration convenience fee) will be available by mid-November.

 

Special Circumstances
Parents of students requiring accommodations on the HSPT must contact Tony Barczak. An Authorization for Release of Accommodation Information will need to be submitted two weeks in advance of taking the test.

If you do not take the test on the Diocesan-wide testing date in December, you may still take the exam at Covington Catholic on a makeup date. Please contact the Admissions Director, Tony Barczak at (859) 448-2247 to schedule your testing date.

If a student has taken the HSPT at a different school but wishes for a copy of the results to be sent to Covington Catholic, he must indicate CCH # 36475 on the testing form. Mr. Barczak can assist you with getting this information from another school as well.

 

For a student to be eligible for merit scholarships, he must take take the exam at CCH in December to qualify.

 

Although not necessary, students that wish to prepare for the placement test may be interested in obtaining a copy of the Kaplan or Barron's COOP/HSPT (How to Prepare for Catholic High School Entrance Examinations). These can be found through the school's link to amazon.com (type in HSPT in search bar) or by clicking on the link above.

 

GENERAL TIMELINE:
Mid-November: Registration opens for the HSPT

Early December (Saturday): HSPT is conducted at CovCath

Early January: HSPT Results Meeting (Individual test results provided to all students, Merit Scholarships announced; Admission process discussed)

Registration Steps:

  1. Click on the link below to open online Admissions
  2. Click Link to Create an account (This account is only used to capture application data/you will not need to refer back to it)
  3. Fill in parent data on the first screen
  4. Submit the form
  5. Check your email for a verification link (please note that it can take a few minutes for the email to come through or you may need to refresh your email – in addition, you may need to check your spam/junk folders)
  6. On the email, you will click the verify account link
  7. Log in with your username and password
  8. Click create a new student application
  9. Click start application
  10. Each section of the application needs to be completed to submit
  11. Once the application is submitted, our Admissions team will review each application.  You will receive an email to start the enrollment process in two to three business days. Again, you may need to check your spam/junk folders.

Complete the following steps to create a Family Portal Account in FACTs.  NOTE: you may have done this step if you have an older student at CCH.

  1. You will receive an email to begin the enrollment process.
  2. Click the link to set up the Family Portal and select “Create New Family Portal Account”
  3. Enter District Code (CCH-KY)
  4. Enter you email address as provided in your application to the school
  5. Click Create an Account
  6. You will receive an email from FACTS Customer Support containing a link that will allow you to create your username and password. For security purposes this link will remain active for 6 hours

 Complete the following in your family portal – left hand side – select Enrollment/Re-Enrollment

  1. Select Click Here to open Enrollment
  2. Click Start Enrollment Packet
  3. Complete each section of the enrollment packet (boxes on the lefthand side will be checked green)
  4. You will choose your tuition payment plan during this process and pay the $215 enrollment fee
  5. You will receive an email confirmation once the enrollment packet is completed
